PLAY IT Like you own it!

Reality's first CD "Play it like you own it" is now ready for distrubution. Last night the guys put the final touches on the mix. Each song has gone through final mixdown and the CD is now ready.

Included on the CD is a PDF that is a seven page insert that talks about each song, has lyrics and photos of the guys durning this recording process.


"Play it like you own it" is a reflection of the style of music Rick, Dom and Duane have played throughout their lives. Included on the CD "Summer Love", "Take Me Back", "Why Do People Change", "Get on with your life" and "Legend (in your own mind)".

Some comments from the guys:

"I've always like a good bottom end. Recording has been more complicated than I thought it would be. Hearing the fruits of our labor makes it quite worthwhile." Dom

Moving ahead. The guys plan on going into the studio next week and just jammin for a few weeks. Already thinking ahead to the next 5 or 6 songs. Maybe it won't take 2 years to put this one out. Stay Tuned!

Tick-Tock

The past few weeks the guys have been working on the final mix of each of the songs - always takes longer then one wants. Last night Rick laid down the lead guitar track to Legend. What a lound rockin good time we had - can you say "WHAT"!

Now all the songs are complete except for the final mix on Legend- thanks to all that have offer their constuctive ear(s) to this project. Hopefully in a couple weeks the first 5 song CD will be ready for distribution. DW is working on a PDF that will be put on the CD which will include photos and descriptions of each song along with comments from the guys.

Last week found Duane and Sax Player Ron working on 'Summer Love'. "Wow, states Duane. I always heard this song with a Sax part and Ron nailed it".

Re-Mix One and Create Another

Last night found Rick, Phil and Duane back mixing again. From our last session we loved "Take Me Back" and decided at this point not to make any changes.

"Why Do People Change" however needed to be re-mixed. The vocals had to much effect and the bass guitar was to muddy. Here is the second version of this song. Click here to listen to an MP3 of "Why Do People Change".

We know that "Summer Love" will be re-mixed. The vocals have to much effect and we are waiting on the sax player to come up with a part. Stay Tuned on that one.

The other song we worked on last evening was the rocker "Get On With Your Life". A song that Dom the bass player sings. This is the first mix of this one. Let us know your comments.

One last song on deck is "Legend in my own Mind" and that one is still waiting on Rick to lay down a lead guitar part. Hopefully in a week or two we can have the first mix of this one to share.

Sample Mix January 22, 2006

Today found Duane working on the mixdown of three songs: Why Do People Change, Summer Love and Take Me Back. Here is version one of these songs.

"Summer Love" click here to play mp3 file. Here is the first version of this song. We are waiting on Ron, the sax player, to work up a part of this 50's style song. So, this one will be re-mixed in the future.

"Take Me Back" click here to play mp3 file. The guys spent a couple hours last week adding their input to this one. Today Duane took their comments and did it his way :-) Hey, if you don't show up, someone has to make the decision. Kidding aside, this is only version 1 and will proberly see another revision before we are through.

More Background Tracks

On January 4, 2006 the guys were all back in the studio working on a couple tunes. Dom added his background vocals on Legend in my Mind.

Adding percussion to Summer Love was Phil (shaker), Duane (Cabasa) and Dom (wood block).

It looks like all the parts are together except Ricks lead on Legend. Once that is done the boys are ready to start working on the final mix. Stay Tuned!

Finding the Lead Part - Legend

Not all songs just come out thin air. Around Christmas Rick stopped into the studio to work on a lead guitar part for Legend. Looking for a part that is different doesn't always come easily. Working with Duane, Rick came up with a cool mix that he will work on and lay the track down later.

Good Things Come to Those Who Wait

This recording session is a slow, almost tedious process. With the busy holiday season and full time jobs and family commitments the guys are finding it hard to get together this month. Doing this as a fun project can be hard when balanced with life. Our hope is to have some tracks on-line soon for all to hear. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
